Women have numerous daily demands that can make it challenging to eat healthy and exercise. Many women must juggle work, kids, aging parents, home, and/or spouse/significant other, which means taking care of self becomes a low priority (or not a priority at all). As a result approximately 60% are overweight or obese (the number is even higher for African American women (80%) and Hispanic American women (78%).
A New Me was developed to inform, motivate, and inspire women, particularly women of color, to adopt a healthier lifestyle. We aim to start a moment of women who want a new me and are willing to do it by making health and fitness a priority. We will help you overcome obstacles you may have so that you can take your health to a new level.
We want you to emulate the color red. It’s the signature color for A New Me. Red is energizing and it signifies a pioneering spirit. Like the color, be determined, revitalized, and allow your physical energy to awaken. It’s time for a new you! You deserve a new me!
About the Founder
Tasha McDaniel is a certified Group Fitness Instructor and Health Coach, who also has a full-time career as a Web-based Trainer and two teenage boys. Like many of you, she is enormously busy because of the many roles she has. However, despite her demanding schedule, she makes fitness and healthy eating a top priority. She knows the challenges of maintaining a workout routine when you have a full-time job and also the responsibilities (or shared responsibilities) of raising kids, maintaining a house, and taking care of aging parents. She founded A New Me because she wants to inspire, motivate, and educate women, particularly African American and Hispanic women, to live healthier lives and…to realize that despite of the obstacles, being fit and healthy is possible.
She began working out while in college and has incorporated fitness into her life since her early 20’s. Her daily schedule begins with a 5:00 am workout, four to five days a week. Why so early? It’s because it is the only time in her day that she has time to exercise.
Through a New Me, she wants to help you achieve your fitness and health goals too. The first step is to make a commitment to yourself and allow resources such as A New Me to help.
It’s time for a new you. Take your health to a new level.
